How Buffy Are You?

Ok, EW1(SG) tempted me into taking that Jedi Quiz yesterday, so I'm going to see about returning the favor. (heh)

I'm not posting any more of these, but Buffy is always worth an exception. And before dpud asks, I like Buffy better than Tron... don't even go there.

Thanks to dpud for squaring me away on how to use html in the mee.nu environment. When you're ready to put some in, hit the "<>" button in the comments, place your html code wherever you want it to go, then hit apply and ok.

By the way... Willow was a lesbian witch.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.  Just thought you'd want to know.

5 Given the profile description I could live with the other I suppose. I like the "obliterate the world" part.

Posted by: Machinist at 12 May 2008@12:16:50 (yFIK0)

6 Usually I just obliterate English.

Posted by: Machinist at 12 May 2008@12:17:26 (yFIK0)

7 Willow was actually the strongest character in the show besides Buffy (and many would say stronger).  Came within moments of destroying the world because of grief and was only stopped by the love of a man.  See?  With plots like that, you just gotta watch it!

Posted by: Stashiu3 at 12 May 2008@12:22:59 (Q5ggV)

8 She was a lesbian but was in love with a man? I better stay away from the show, I am easily confused.

9 The guy didn't look like this, did he?

11 bwahahaha!!  Nice one Sir.

Note that I didn't say "in love"... you'd really like the show I think.  Very strong on duty, honor, and fighting evil.  Wait, that's you in everyday life.  Must think on this.

Posted by: Stashiu3 at 12 May 2008@12:40:42 (Q5ggV)

12 "Fighting" evil?

19 Wait till Harper sees what you said.

Posted by: Machinist at 12 May 2008@13:21:58 (yFIK0)

20 I bet Harper knows how to short-sheet a bed too. Just ask her.

Posted by: Stashiu3 at 12 May 2008@13:53:39 (Q5ggV)

21 Harper is sneakier more subtle than that. She uses the powered sugar for a delayed reaction.

The site is misbehaving and I must go. Have a fine day, Sir.

31 Sorry Ladies, it just seems that mee.nu doesn't like html very much in the comments.  Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

32 I didn't know Hamtaro was part of the BuffyVerse.
O.o
He must be the part that keeps the facets of reality in balance. There has to be one...

36 No, Mac-you are not Dawnlike. But sheesh, Im going to start up a collection over at TSW to get you a set of Buffy/Angel DVDs so you can become educated on all things Whedon. Or at least some things......

37 Bummer, I'm Giles. A bloody Brit. Sigh, I was so hoping to be a woman......and an American. And evil. I luuuuuuv evil.

Posted by: JBHood at 13 May 2008@11:35:03 (GkYyh)

38 Are you a regular reader at TSW, Sir?

I never had much interest in occult TV shows. The one exception that completely caught me by surprise was Forever Knight. When I first saw a description of that show in TV Guide I was contemptuous and avoided it. I happened to switch into it one night several months later and was hooked. It was not a classic show but it was well handled in an interesting manner and had a couple of interesting and well played secondary characters that made up for the weakness of the main characters. I recently bought the entire three seasons on DVDs and enjoyed them with my wife, who had never heard of the program. We had a good time watching them over a period of months.

My problem with shows that use magic is the same one I had with fake SiFi such as Star Trek, they cheat. Like a cheater mystery, such as Perry Mason,  they create an impossible problem and then pull a rabbit out of the hat to solve it. The chief engineer recalibrates the framalstatic regurgitator to induce a zeta field to save the day. Pffftt!
Just have the damned Angel come down and save the day!

I admit I never watched the Buffy show or all of the movie so I may be wrong. I like to know the rules.

Mac, I still have never watched Buffy on TV.  My reactions mirror yours and I was never interested in catching it.  When the first season came out on DVD, I bought it because it was on sale and decided to give it a try.  Like "Forever Knight" for you, I was hooked after that.  Buffy, and the spinoff series Angel, are good enough that I can sustain the willful suspension of disbelief necessary to enjoy them.

Buffy lasted seven seasons and Angel lasted five.  I hesitate to recommend them to you as there is a "magical solution" ending for some things.  The show itself was good enough for me not to mind when it happened.  Most of the magical endings were at least foreshadowed well, so it's not like a total cheat.

44 I understand, Sir. There are a number of movies that have hooked me by their cast or their fresh approach, though they were not my kind of film. (But not Tron!)
