The Big Story About Anthony Pellicano Is Still To Come?
I haven't seen this anywhere else, but it looks huge. A taste:
I called Ms. Busch this evening and she elaborated on the Chuck Philips
angle. She told me that when she received a dead fish, a rose, and a
note that said “Stop†on her windshield — a threat for which Pellicano
was later indicted — a lawyer at the L.A. Times suggested
that the paper investigate the matter internally, with the help of . .
. Anthony Pellicano. It turned out that the lawyer is married to an L.A. Times editor who, in June 2003, had a Christmas gift from Pellicano on his desk — according to an L.A. Times reporter who told Busch about it.
Go on over to Patterico's and read the details. It's a great post and I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes bigger than the trial itself.

Now that the MSM is looking at this guy I am sure that they will look back at Hillary hiring this thug to intimidate witnesses like Kathleen Wiley (He threatened her children) and Bill's bimbos, right? Just a matter of time? Yes?

I'm sure it's being considered if it looks like she may "steal" the nomination. Right now, they're in "Hillary Who?" mode.

When You Look Back At This, You Can Say That This Is Where It Began
The smears from the MSM aren't going to wait forever you know. Since they've collectively decided that Obama has all but secured the nomination, it must be time for the real news to begin.
Presumptive Republican presidential candidate John McCain secured millions in federal funds for a land acquisition program that
provided a windfall for an Arizona developer whose executives were
major campaign donors, according to a USA Today report.
McCain, an Arizona senator, inserted $14.3 million in a 2003 defense
bill to buy land around Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona, in a
provision sought by SunCor Development, the largest of 50 landowners
near the base, the newspaper reported on its Web site Thursday, citing
public records.
I'm A Moron, But At Least I Can Say "No!"
Is there anyone in the world smart enough to be President of the United States? No way, the job is too complicated. Everybody expects you to be an expert on every topic under the sun, including the moonbat subjects. Now, I don't study moonbat, but I recognize it when it rears its ugly head.
I'm considered pretty smart by most folks and that's great. I'm in MENSA, mostly because I thought it would be neat to join, and that's great too. But I'm also a moron compared to how smart someone would have to be to truly qualify for POTUS. So every candidate pretends to know more than they do because it's expected of them. Admitting you are less than expert on a topic will draw focus from the MSM like moths to a flame (or Rosie O'Donnell to cake).

Elections are supposed to be the voter's way of telling representatives what is wanted. But attention spans are so short that a clever pol can basically stay in office for the rest of his/her life.
I'm all for "serve a term, get out". If you can't get your act together and do something valuable in a term then you ought not be there -and- your goal ought to be to start paring the law books back down to a size that a human can actually handle.
I don't WANT my reps to be so familiar with the system that they forge great behemoth structures that are so convoluted that no one can follow them
It's "career" politicians who have no idea what it is like to live the life of an "average" person. Think any of the three liberals running for the office of POTUS know thing one about what it's like to live on a shoestring budget right now? Somehow you have to give them an incentive to do a good job and a penalty for not doing what they said they were going to do.

Why is Arlen Specter, or any Congressman, allowed anywhere near the NFL or baseball?
Because of anti-trust laws. Sports drafts would be totally illegal if they didn't have an exemption. Imagine if coming out of college you could be "drafted" by a company and you would have to work for that company or not at all?
So because they have anti-trust laws allowing them to break other laws, Congress has to, and should, keep their eyes on them.
Saying that, this is moronic. If they want to investigate anti-trust against the NFL, they should start with the fact that you can only get the football package from one tv provider and it's a satellite provider. I couldn't get it for a couple years because my apartment faced east. They also might want to investigate how they came to "award" games to the NFL network. The official story seems to be that they "outbid" the others, which is pretty darn funny. In other words, they agreed to pay themselves a gajillion dollars for allowing themselves to broadcast the games to fewer people than ESPN or ABC could have reached.
But today's politicians don't want to fix problems, they want to work on problems, the higher profile the better.
Posted by: Veeshir at 19 May 2008@11:28:19 (ThMnZ)
I think sports drafts should be legal, but only for those althletes who enter it voluntarily. Anyone wanting to forego the draft should be able to have a "walk-on" tryout with whichever team they choose, whenever they choose. Government has no business getting involved.

Advice For Women About Doctors
Surprisingly, this comes from CNN. I rarely see things from them that are either wise or healthy... they usually promote the "fad-du-jour". These five points are pretty good for anyone, but especially women.
I'll be looking to see if they can make it two in a row.

I hope they pulled that MD's license. If there's blood, it can't be IBS, almost by definition.
And what that girl went through for ten years makes me shudder. The only bright side is that she escaped steroids in her growth years. (Did I ever mention I have Crohn's?)
Posted by: kishnevi at 15 May 2008@19:56:49 (ntdZU)
2
Yes, you have... and I know how much it sucks. Crohn's is dismissed as psychosomatic far too often. The doc in this case is not likely to lose his license, but the family should consider a malpractice suit to recover excess costs along with pain and suffering. The frivolous lawsuits drive me crazy, but this seems merited.

Not that I had seen before.

Ya' know, sometimes even the cases with merit just aren't worth it.

But bad doctors need taken to task. If the AMA or State Board of Medicine won't do it, the consumer has to. Mis-diagnosing someone for 10 years is bad, but what else did he screw up?

This Is Probably Not Healthy
A 20 year old Austrian woman has purchased the house where she was held captive for eight years. When she escaped, her abductor avoided prosecution when he killed himself by jumping in front of a train.
Kampusch told German magazine
Bunte that she wanted to keep the house where she was held to protect
it from vandals and stop it being torn down, SkyNews reported.
I could understand if she bought it to have it razed and the ground salted, but to preserve it seems unhealthy.
Kim du Toit Speaks To The GOP... They Should Listen
Kim du Toit always has good stuff, but this is exceptional. He accurately describes why many conservatives no longer have any use for the GOP and what the Republican Party can do to bring us back. We're conservatives first... try to be conservative.
Here’s your blueprint. Get back to these bedrock principles, and you’ll win everything.

Great Advice
Someone gave me some great advice recently. I've edited it a bit and am passing it back with my thanks, concern, and respect for the person who gave it and seems to be in need.
1. Do more than take a break. You need to really de-stress and not
just go through the motions. Take a deep breath. Take a hot shower or
drink some hot tea and honey. Watch a funny movie with your
kids/spouse and REALLY LAUGH. Laugh a lot, even if you don't feel like it. That's
very important for you and for your kids, because they know when
parents are stressed. And if everything works out, it won't do your
kids much good to have a sick parent.
2. At some point, you will need to calmly explain all your concerns to your attorney(s) so, in the next days, you need to think about your concerns and write them down as succinctly as possible.
For instance, one point might be that you are concerned they are asking
you for documents you provided at the first meeting because it suggests
they are not careful with your documents and/or sufficiently familiar
with your file.
3. I think it's a good idea to stop blogging
for awhile. Your mind has other things to think about right now. All
bloggers blog in fits and starts and it will still be here when you're
ready.
1
"...and it will still be here when you're ready."
And so will we!

Misha Clears Up The Confusion
I have been hearing about John McCain's ACU rating, and how it proves his conservative credentials, for months now. Head on over to The Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler for the explanation of why it doesn't mean squat.
I won't ever vote for John McCain... ever! I don't trust him... not.at.all. Well done Emperor!
1
Why all the fuss over some Senator from AZ? It's not like he's the Republican nominee for POTUS or anything. If you lived [hold on a minute] ...he's what?! What about the conservatives? Whaddya mean "What conservatives?" That's it?! That's who we're stuck with?!?! *&@&$*! [sorry, about that] Never mind.

He's a liar who should have switched over to the Dems in 2004. I respect his service and sacrifice, but can't stand his politics or arrogance.

It's actually a smart strategy on the part of the GOP. Since a Democrat will probably win this year, they've decided to nominate a Democrat for themselves.
I was going to say I'll be voting for the Libertarian candidate this year, like I did in 2004, but there is serious danger the LP will nominate a nut or an ideologue who is so nutty he/she might as well be a nut, in which case I don't know what the hades I'll do. (There is a sizable group in the LP who seem to think that the LP should be the world's only political party for whom an elected candidate is a badge of dishonor.) Not the Constitution Party--too theocratic for me.
BTW, according to the ACU (and Rottweiler's adjustment) the meme that Obama is the most liberal senator is wrong. A rating of 4 may be pretty liberal, but there's a whole bunch of them who rate zero.
Posted by: kishnevi at 14 May 2008@20:58:35 (N1rjO)

At 0.3% of the vote, what does it matter that the LP candidate might be a nut-job? 8% of the population thinks that Elvis is still alive - 3% think if you write him a letter he'll get it. 26 times more people think Elvis is alive than voted LP in the last presidential election. Just think what that voting block could do for the LP! /sarc

If I thought it was GOP strategy I might... nope, I still would have left them. I'm understanding now why so many conservatives call the GOP "the stupid party". As far as Obama's rating goes, I care less about his than I did McCain's. It's the policies I don't like, not somebody else's rating. I trust my own judgment much more than I do theirs.
Saying that nominating McCain was a deliberate strategy is also saying that the GOP is more interested in political strategy than what is good for the country. No matter what their reasoning, be it strategy, backroom deal because it was McCain's "turn", or really believing that he is the best candidate... the GOP no longer represents what I believe in. They're going to get stomped in November on all fronts and deservedly so. Once the Dems have a nominee, they will close ranks with the MSM and you're going to see a half-dozen negative McCain articles every single day until the election.

"that the GOP is more interested in political strategy than what is good for the country"
Stashiu, they're a political party. They've always/ been more interested in strategy than the good of the country.

That's pretty cynical my friend, but I won't say you're wrong.
Might be that I just never saw it before. Whether it's true or not, they won't be getting my vote just because they have an (R) next to their name. McCain won't get it no matter what. I am enjoying the Dem meltdown as it is of their own design. The GOP meltdown... feh, I'm completely indifferent to them right now. I'll vote the individual and hope for gridlock for the next four years. Maybe there will be a conservative party by then, because there sure isn't one now.

Pretty lame stuff. Cindy McCain isn't the one running and they've always kept their taxes separate, so I would tell them to go pound sand too. Of course, I'd tell the MSM to go pound sand if they asked me the time, so....

Sites are added to the Moronosphere and Gerbil Nation blogrolls by request. I got everyone on there who was there when they were made, so email me if you know of a new addition. Some of these are on the main blogroll as well and will remain duplicated.
The main blogroll is at my own discretion. I gratefully accept suggestions by email, but I don't do blogroll exchanges. If a site is there, it's because I personally recommend it. If it's one that is not updated often, check out the archives and you'll probably see why it's there. I will rarely remove a site from the main blogroll once it's there.
