Superdelegate Super Sale!!

And the hits just keep on coming in the Democratic Party primary race as Karl from Protein Wisdom posts about superdelegates receiving
"campaign donations" from the two remaining party candidates.  It's no surprise to me that this is going to be a bitter fight with accusations flying back and forth constantly.  It doesn't matter if these accusations are even true.  If they are, it's just business as usual on the Democratic Party Campaign Trail.  If they aren't, it's just business as usual on the... you get the idea.

(More below the fold including credits for the various parts making up this post.)
Patterico asks, "Next question: have the campaigns given any money to politicians who are not superdelegates?"  I expect they have, just not as much.  I'm not personally interested in whether the Clinton and Obama campaigns are trying to buy superdelegates, except for how much popcorn I'll be eating as I enjoy the show.  I expect shady dealings from the Democratic Party.  I don't think the campaigns, or even the party leadership, really cares whether that's what is going on.  All they're interested in is how much the "perception" will stick and who it will favor.

The question I would like to see asked is, "How much campaign money have the Republican superdelegate equivilants (there are 463 unpledged delegates whose votes are only committed at the convention) received and who did they receive it from?"  Unfortunately, it probably won't be asked until after the Republican nomination is set.  Why?  Any sooner might derail the MSM's "Maverick" and they can't have that happen.  Not that I think John McCain has done anything wrong here, on the contrary.  I don't think he needs to since he is the handpicked, good-ole-boy, GOP Party Leadership/MSM candidate.  It's just that it will no more matter to the DNC or MSM whether an accusation against John McCain is true or not, once he is officially the nominee, than it does now regarding the Democratic candidates.  All that will matter is how much the perception will stick and who it will favor.

I predict this will be one more knife in the back that John McCain can expect from his pals in the media... after he gets the nomination that is.  Look for it and remember where you saw it first.

On an admin note, I'm unsure of the blog etiquette here so let me spell out my concern.  I first noticed the story at Patterico's and decided to post on it as well because I felt I had a different angle to explore (how this will affect the Republican primary can eventual nominee).  It looks like Patterico got his story from the L.A.Times *spit* and referenced Karl's post at Protein Wisdom, which referenced the article at Capital Eye (all linked above).  So to be clear, the only original portion of this post that I take credit for is exploring how this will affect the Republicans.  Everything else should be credited to the respective blog authors with my respects for their hard work.

Now, if there was an easier way to do that explanation, feel free to show me how in the comments.  I'm sure something similar will come up again and I want to do the right thing.  Thanks.
